a weathering time

Every weather immaginable happened when i was detasseling 2day.  First it rained, then it got REALLY hot, then it got windy, then it poured, and then it lighteninged, and we finally got 2 leave.  But anyways, Mikah wasnt there, and i was sad.  Alex's bad spot found:  umm, yeah.  he liked derek, and i don't know, but he's just not my type.  oh well.  heehee, derek got fired, oooohh Yeah, baby!! (he really gets annoying, yknow?)

Totally Awesome!!!!

Ok, so today rocked!!!!!  It all started at the beginning of the day. Michelle didn't go today cuz she had to work at dairy queen, so it was just me.  Do u remember the girl-i-used-to-go-to-gymnastics-with's-brother? Cuz he was here today.  Sigh.  Mikah was here too.  In the field, he told us that last night he had a dream where he almost  got laid.  Mikah, Mikah, Mikah.  Back on the bus I heard Alex, (that guy)  talking about church camp.  Naturally I was intrigued.  "What church camp did u go to?" I asked.  Pathetically, he didn't know, but the conversation went on.  See, he just seems too good to be true.  He goes to church camp, complains about his little sister (i can relate, u see)  is a good student (He asked Martha for a book about Mythology.  The guys I know can't even read!!!  Ok, they can read, just not very well.  And they don't like to.)  is still cool (he hung around with steve, and steve resembles coolness) doesn't cuss every other word (he said his mom won't even let him call his sister stupid.  Damn.) and has perty blue eyes.  Heeheehee, think this is leading somewhere?  Who knows.  He must have some flaw.  We got done early, and have tomarrow off.  YES!!! When I got home, I got all squeaky cleaned up for skippy's play, although i almost didn't make it there when my mom got majorly pissed and turned the car around until i was practically in tears begging her to let me go.  I rode over with Kaitlyn and Emily, and knew it was gonna rock.  Guess what??? Fulp did  know it was me in the field, he just wanted to be an ass.  Emily promised to give my number to Kody (Kody, u btter not call me real late or my parents will get real pissed.  But still call me   I know u have a future with emily, just be persistant!!)  The play was hilarious.  So was the audience.  Emily kept smiling at a little kid sitting three seats down, and the kid's dad asked him if he wanted to switch spots so he could be by her.  He didn't though.  The cast seemed a little cooky, but all the better!!! Skippy didn't even smile, just threw things.  One little kid was rather obnoxious, but very funny, cuz he didn't seem to be paying attention to wat was going on.  There was even a fight!!! (Tweedledee and Tweedledum)  The caterpillar didn't look much like a caterpillar, and her "pipe" which was really a recorder broke apart during the performance.  like i said, it was hilarious.  we all stared at the guy who was the grim reaper cuz skippy said he liked her.   i wonder if he noticed? hmmm... after the play, emily was proposed to by the king, even though he told skippy they couldn't be together because he was gay.  she also hugged almost every cast member.  Skippy took us backstage (oooh aaaah)  It was very exciting.  Good job, ol Skip!!!

                                                                                                                      I'm lovin it

A perfect day

Today, our crew only had 12 people.  (Sadly, Mikah wasn't there   That's less than u think.  At the beginning of the season we had enough people for four squads, four people on each squad.  Now we only have enough for two, so each person took two rows.  The field was a dream.  It was super short, and we pulled awesomely.  Then, at ten o' clock, our crew leader said we could go home. TEN O' CLOCK!!!!! Then, of course, jim, one of the bosses, told us to go to another field.  What a let down.  I talked to a girl named Martha, and then found out she was gunna be a senior!! She's quiet, but nice & mature, so I like her.  Anyways, at the next field we totally kicked ass.  Our crew leader told us we'd get paid really well.  Paxton was there too, and I saw Jessica's brother, Tyler.  I asked him if Jessica was detasseling, but she wasn't.  Oh well.  Anyways, Dallas, Steve's sister, told us that steve had given CPR to his gold fish!!!! Hahahah!! That kept me happy the rest of the day.

U know me, U love me,

6:20 PM

so many people gone in a day

  • Mood: happy, oh so jolly!
  • Music: the beatles and nervonna. very different, and yet great

Ok, so today somehow my alarm got turned off, and I slept until Michelle woke me up at 4:45.  The bus comes at 5:00.  Usually.  I frantically ran around the house in an oblivious craze, trying to pack my lunch and get dressed at the same time.  Then, at 4:50, the bus comes.  Just my luck.  I grab my stuff, run out to the bus, realize I forgot my hat, run back to the house, grab my hat, and run back to the bus again.  Once on the bus I just sat in my usual daze, somewhat aware of what's going on around me, and somewhat drifting.  This sort of cute guy named Josh sat near me. (oh glee!)  It's too bad he's shy and 16.  (I had to ask.  I ask everyone.)  Well...I have to admit, I came off pretty shy too, but it's wearing off.  Mikah wasn't here today, and a couple of people said he quit.  I was quite sad.  What a bad start to the day.  Anyways, we got yelled at a lot in the morning.  Apparantly we were missing a lot of tassels, even though we were going through rows we and other squads had already done Monday.  First a girl named Malina (or something like that) quit, and soon after a new kid who had just started quit too.  Well, as we were heading back we saw that same new kid hitch hiking.  What an idiot.  When we got a break, Maggie (our group leader) Brock (the one who told the kid to get on the bus) and Colton (the kid) all went to talk to Weedy (the evil boss.  or that's wat I heard)  Anyways, Maggie told us what happened and said she got more verbal abuse than the kid.  She said if one more kid did something like that she'd be fired, and if anyone else wanted to quit, they should do it now.  Apparantly she was supposed to walk us to the bus.  Well, nobody quit, but everybody still threatens too.  they also say they want to get fired.  Who doesn't?  Anyways, when I was going through the field I heard some kid from another squad/team thingy saying he hated this fuckin job, it's so fuckin hard.  I looked over, and guess wat?  It's Fulp from camp!  After going over a debate in my head on whether or not to say anything I yell out "Hey, Phillip!" and wave.  He just looked at me like I was some crazy freak he'd never met.  The girls who were surrounding him laughed.   I knew i looked like shit but they didn't have to act bitchy about it!!  Embarassed, I just kept pulling until Steve caught up with me.  (He's 14, like me.  heeheeehee)  Did u know that kid? he asked.  Yeah, i said.  He acted like he didn't know u, steve said.  God, I was pissed at Phillip!! Embaressing me in front of all those people.  He's a fuckin woosy, pimple faced ass.  I don't know how, but somehow, by the end of our detasseling work (apparently we were doing much better so we got to leave at 1:30) I was in a good mood again.  I talked a lot to Marina on the bus, and she gave me her phone # on my hand so I could call her @ 4:30 today.  Of course, the phone # smeared, and I ended up calling the wrong one.  She must think im such a bitch.  I feel like one.  OOOhhhh well.  Derek was being oddly nice too, although he still was a showoff.  I dunno.  That kid's creepy.  Tomarrow, I will make sure I wake up on time, and hopefully it will be a lot better.  I'm so happy right now and i don't know why!!! Skippy, I know u'll do good in ur play tomarrow, so break a leg!! (she's gonna be a chef in alice in wonderland)

                                                                      I love u all!!!!!!

rain, rain, and more rain

  • Mood: I am happy...WHY am i happy???
  • Music: upbeat and lively

Ok, so it's my second day of detasseling.  Today I get up at 4:00 instead of 3:30, I eat breakfast, and I get ready.  It had been raining since around one (I kept waking up at odd intervals) and of course, I had left my detasseling shoes outside, so they were soaked.  Of course that didn't really matter because I knew I would get soaked too.  My sister had to leave detasseling early because of her job at dairy queen, so I was the first (and only) kid on the bus for a couple of minutes.  The whole way there I just sort of tried to tune everyone out (there really wasn't much to tune out; a couple of people were even sleeping)  When we finally reached our destination two hours after I boarded the bus, the field was extremely muddy.  And it was still raining.  My crew, which was actually Blake's crew, wasn't very good.  See, first me and Kendra would be moving fast, and then our whole crew would engage in conversation and we would slow down dramatically.  Sadly, we got in trouble for this.  But I didn't really care.  I mean, here it is wet, muddy, and raining, and they think we're gonna be pulling like crazy?  I'm too lazy for that.  But I did get most of my tassels.  Apparantly Blakes car cought on fire that morning, so he and Michelle (that's my sister) left around twelve thirty.  So I was put in Blakes younger brother's crew (Steve! heeheehee) and went a lot faster then.  But I still was only average.  Anyways, we worked until 3:30.  Mikah's freakin hilarious.  He was in my crew the whole time.  He never stopped talking, and everything he said was just so...so...so...so Mikah.  The way home was more interesting than yesterday.  I was across from Steve, and he's just very, er, interesting, i guess.  Or u could say he's crazy, which might be more fitting.  I didn't get home until around five, and now here I am!

Tellin ya wat u don't care about

6:11 PM

itchy scratchy and irritable

  • Mood: sad, but is there hope?
  • Music: nervonna. as loud as it can get.

Ok, so today was my first day of detasseling.  I woke up at 3:30.  3:30!!!  I started out just rolling around in bed, and then finally went downstairs, had some cereal, and took a shower.  By the time I was finished getting dressed (after taking a break to read gossip girl , which is a pretty good book) I realized I hadn't gotten my jacket or gloves, and it was time to go.  I flew around the house, until I finally ended up on the couch on our porch waiting for the bus.  (The bus picked us up at our house since we live in the country, but it's on the way)  Somewhere around 5:00 I boarded the empty bus and found a seat in the middle while my more-experienced sister sat somewhere towards the front.  The busride to the fields was quiet.  A few boys and girls were whispering, but I just closed my eyes and wished I was in bed. (in case u haven't figured it out yet, I'm lazy.  and quiet.)  So anyways, we got to the field and I was put with my crew.  The crew leader was someone  with a head of big curls.  He was a guy around 17 or 18 i think.  There were two people who were experienced who just sped down the rows of corn:  Scuba Steve and...crap, I forgot her name...but she was reallllly social.  Then there was Mikah and me who were both beginners and both went very very slow.  We didn't talk much.  I made a suttle attempt, but either he didn't hear me or he just ignored me.  As we went down and back and down and back through the corn rows, I grew better at pulling tassles, and the other girl wats-her-name started talking and talking and talking.  I was thankful for her chatteryness though, because it broke the awkward silence and made detasseling somewhat easier.  Mikah started talking to, and it turns that although he's a  shrimp, he's actually 14, which is my age.  He mostly whined in his girly-voice, but he actually was funny.  anyways, after lunch our group changed, and we got three different kids, who were actually worse than Mikah, which is realllly sad.  Blake, our leader, told me I was doing good, and that made me really happy.    (The better work, the better pay) Although a whole bunch of crews left around noon, we didn't get to leave until four.  I was dehydrated, and extremely itchy.  (the corn gives you a rash if you don't wear sleeves)  The ride home is pretty much a blur, but I don't really care.  Oh, and Derek was there.  Apparantly it was his birthday, so i avoided all temptation of cussing him out while he acted like an idiot that owned the place.  He pretty much ignored me too, but when he did talk to me, he at least had the decency to be civil.

Oh, and if ur wondering why i took the previous entry out, it's because my sister would seriously screw me if she saw it.

                                                                                                     Luv ya always,

                                                                                                              Nikkichik   (i'm an angel dahling)

detasseling-is that how you spell it?

  • Mood: bored and crazy
  • Music: laalaalaa

ok, so any of you who knows what detasseling is knows it sucks.  completely.  why anybody would do it voluntarily is beyond me.  anyways, my parents dragged me to a meeting and forced me to sign the papers saying "this is good experience" and "know you'll know what real  work is".  yeah. right.  like i give a crap.  anyways, at the meeting i actually saw some people i know.  first there was derek.  for any of you who don't know derek, he's a self absorbed faggot.  woo-hoo.  then there was a girl i used to go to gymnastics with and her older brother who's my age with his friends.  they were checking me out, and i totally loved it.  can't say i didn't check them out too.  (none of them were hotties, but this could still be fun)

                                          keepin ya posted
